Bloomsbury East will be more than just a shop selling plants. Our name was inspired by the bohemian creativity of the Bloomsbury Group.
While the group members encompassed radical thinkers in many fields, such as writing, economics and the arts, some of the members, including Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, and Woolf's friend Vita Sackville-West, were also accomplished horticulturalists.
While we will sell blooms, not too far from Bury St Edmunds in East Anglia, we will also embrace Eastern philosophies of harmony, community and respect (of people and nature).
Our choice of name illustrates that we will be something a bit different, a contemporary take on the gardening tradition.
We won't just be selling plants and related products like most garden centres or plant nurseries, or just offering garden design services that many might feel are beyond their affordability
Bloomsbury East will combine the two on the high street, making garden design ideas more accessible.
Offering plants and other garden products for sale in beautifully designed surroundings, we hope a visit to us will inspire the already green-fingered and non-gardeners alike, encouraging all to turn their outside (or inside) space into something a bit special.
Our future plans to incorporate a coffee shop into our site, will enable customers to relax, enjoy the surroundings, discuss creative ideas (or the weather), or read a gardening book!
Once we are well up and running, we will also be offering garden design and planting design services.
Based in Eye, Suffolk, we're in easy reach of Norwich, Ipswich, Diss, Harleston, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Thetford.
