We love nothing more than designing beautiful gardens, and are strong advocates of the ‘form follows function’ school of thought - a space must be practical as well as look good.
We always start a project by discussing the practicalities of the space, what the client wants to use it for, as well as giving due consideration to the existing elements that we have to work with.
This includes the views and practical considerations relating to the surroundings as well as the site, and we take into account the ‘Genius loci’ - the prevailing feeling of the place.
Take a look at some case studies below.
After the client consultation, ideas are then developed, and we come up with creative solutions to resolve any challenges.
The fun parts then starts - the choice of colours, textures and forms, whether they are for hardlandscaping, or related to the planting scheme, that add layers to master plan, to develop a garden with a clear personality!
Other considerations are the environmental impact of material choices, the promotion of biodiversity wherever possible, and the evolution of the garden throughout the year so that it looks good in all seasons, and in future years! There are a lot of balls to juggle to get the perfect solution!
We don't have a set style of designing, every client and every garden are different, with varying requirements and tastes. We approach every job as a fresh challenge, something we relish!
The garden design and planting design case studies on this page illustrate how we approached the work, and how they turned out!
